In 1949, the American Business Women's Association was founded by Hilary A. Bufton Jr. who was a business man at the time. After World War II, Bufton realized that women in his community had a strong impact on America’s economy. He then created the Association with the belief that women were discovering new business knowledge and that they should be given an equal opportunity to pursue their business dreams.
