Three Aspects of Character

The Character Education Partnership defines character as a three-part concept: understanding, caring about, and acting upon core ethical values. A useful mnemonic for the three parts is head, heart, and hand. In other words, in the CEP definition character includes a cognitive component, an affective component, and a behavioral component.
